Settlement Service

This service aims to support people to progress out of homelessness by

  • Supporting people to source suitable accommodation
  • Assisting people to move into their new home
  • Supporting people to maintain their new home
By homelessness we mean not only emergency accommodation but also those who do not have a home of their own, may have been living in an institution or may be living with friends and relatives or in unsuitable, overcrowded and unfit accommodation.

Referrals

  • We work with single people, couples and families
  • We accept referrals from Local Authority, Health Services staff and staff from other organisations who have a role in placing people in suitable accommodation.
  • We also accept self-referrals from those who require support to access accommodation

Service provision

  • Practical assistance to source suitable accommodation
  • Assisting the service user to move into their new home
  • Working proactively with the service user to prevent and respond to issues that may put their new tenancy at risk
  • Key work with service users to ensure they have the skills required for living independently
  • Liaise with a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure that the needs of the service user are being met
  • Accompany service users to meetings with statutory and other agencies
  • Ensure that service users know and understand their entitlements
